Job Description:

Overview:Responsible for the medical care of LSCC patients by providing comprehensive out-patient primary care. Under the direction of the Medical Director, delivers primary care commensurate with training to patients of LSCC. Delivers care appropriate for an out-patient, primary care community health center with multicultural, multilingual patient population.Responsibilities:Daily Duties:


  • Provides examines, diagnoses and treats patients twenty-one (21) years of age and younger.
  • Acts as a consultant on all pediatric cases referred by other staff providers of
  • Completes medical charts after each visit in the electronic medical records
  • Provides quality medical care according to standards established by
  • Participates in providing continuity of care in outpatient management.
  • All other duties or responsibilities as assigned by Medical Director
    Coaching/Training:

    • May provide in-service trainings for staff in selected topics in Pediatrics as deemed necessary by the Medical Director.
    • Assures a high quality educational experience for medical students, residents and other individuals in a training role.
      Operations:

      • Assists and participates in internal quality control
      • Provides supervision to advanced practice nurses and physician assistants in accordance with the LSCC Delegation Protocol/Collaborative Practice
      • Supervises medical assistants and lab personnel in area of specific support services for patient care
      • Attends internal and external meetings, workshops and conferences, and participates on task forces or committees, when necessary and as required.
      • Actively monitor Pediatric service productivity.
      • Fulfills established guidelines set in place for provider encounter
        Compliance:

        • Applies for and obtains membership privileges at local hospitals in the area as required by
        • Performs all duties and services in full compliance with LSCC's Quality Standards Type in specific job duties under this area
        • Achieves and maintains LSCC Core Clinical Competencies
          AIDET-LOC:

          • Staff Members and Directors shall deal with patients, providers, colleagues, and other internal and external LSCC contacts honestly, professionally and with empathy, following the principles of AIDET (Skill at a Glance) and the Language of Caring Overview (Staff). Staff Members and Directors shall demonstrate honesty and integrity in all LSCC business activities and work scheduling

              KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
              • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of medicine and allied services commensurate with his/her training
              • Demonstrates interest in the area of community medicine
              • Ability to relate to culturally diverse patients and community
              • Ability to recognize and understand the public health, social, and economic factors which impact the overall health of LSCC patients
              • Ability to support LSCC mission and readily serve its patient population
              • Maintains a professional manner and appearance that contributes to the professional image presented to individuals within and outside of LSCC.
              • Ability to work in and support electronic health records environment
              • Ability to travel and work from various clinic locations as necessary
                Qualifications:REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

                • Current valid license to practice medicine in the State of Texas
                • Current DEA certificates
                • Board eligibility in Pediatrics (ABP) is required; board certification is required no later than two (2) years of date of initial hire/appointment.
                • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
                  PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSE:

                  • Proficiency with EMR system
                  • Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are a definite plus
                    All LSCC employees function as a member of a collaborative health care team to create and maintain a Patient Centered Medical Home where emphasis is on excellent communication, support of the patient in self-management and care is provided and tracked in a culturally competent, behaviorally enhanced setting supported by information technology.
