QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: Degree: Master's degree in nursing.
Education: Graduate of a National League of Nursing accredited
school of nursing and a graduate of an approved anesthesia program
accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nursing Anesthetists
(COA). Certification: Must have and maintain one of the following:o
Certification by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetisto
Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the American
Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA)o The National Board of
Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
Additional Certifications: Must have the following hands-on
certification through the American Heart Association or American
Red Crosso Current Basic Life Support (BLS)o Current Advanced
cardiac life support (ACLS)o Current Pediatric Advanced Life
Support (PALS)o DEA registration number are required Experience:
Must have current experience (3 months or more in the past 12
months) providing epidural anesthesia (labor epidurals). Be able to
close encounters within seventy-two (72) hours of the patient
encounter. Must have experience in the delivery of and monitoring
of all types of anesthesia utilized in the delivery of obstetrical
and surgical anesthesia (general endotracheal, 57 subarachnoid
block and epidural, and IV regional techniques). Licensure: Possess
a current and unrestricted license to practice as a registered
nurse anesthetist in any one of the 50 states, the District of
Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Island. U.S.
Citizenship: Shall be a U.S. citizen English Language Requirement:
Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively
communicate. Physical Capability: Shall be physically capable of
standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically
capable of performing all services required under the contract.CORE
DUTIES: Manage patient anesthesia experience, perform preoperative
evaluations and preparations,administer monitored anesthesia care,
regional and general anesthesia, monitor and manage
patientreactions to anesthesia and surgery, manage fluid therapy,
perform, and manage invasive monitoring, and perform post-operative
evaluations as privileged. Perform a pre-anesthetic assessment and
evaluation of the patient. This includes obtaining an informed
consent from the patient, requesting consultations and/or
diagnostic studies and ordering pre-anesthetic medications. Develop
and implement an anesthetic plan of care. Perform an assessment
immediately prior to induction of anesthesia of the patient. This
shall include a review of the medical record with regard to
completeness, pertinent laboratory data, time of administration and
dosage of pre-anesthesia medication, together with an appraisal of
any changes in the patient's condition from that noted on previous
visits. This note shall include any previous anesthetic experiences
and complications thereof noted in the medical record. Maintain the
patient's physiologic homeostasis and corrects abnormal responses
to the anesthesiaand/or surgery. Collect and interpret patient
physiological data by selecting, applying, or inserting noninvasive
monitoring modalities. Manage the patient's airway and pulmonary
status. Manage the patient's emergence and recovery from anesthesia
by maintaining homeostasis, providing relief from pain and
anesthesia side effects, and preventing and managing complications
through selecting, obtaining, ordering, and administrating
medications, fluids or ventilator support. Record all pertinent
events taking place during the introduction of, maintenance of and
emergence from anesthesia, including the dosage and duration of all
anesthetic agents, other drugs, intravenous fluids and blood or
blood components on all patients that have received anesthesia
care. Record post-anesthetic visits, including at least one note
describing the presence or absence of anesthesia related
complications of the procedure. Serve as a resource person and
assist with the training of other staff personnel, act as clinical
adjunctive faculty for student nurse anesthetists in their clinical
phase, to include phase II anesthesia students, in vein puncture
and intravenous therapy, respiratory care, and anesthesia. Adhere
to the Centers for Disease Control guidelines concerning universal
precautions, and the MTF infection control program at all times
while providing services under this contract. Monitor anesthesia
care, management of patient anesthesia experience, and performing
preoperative evaluations and preparations; administering Spinal,
Epidural, Bier Block, Axillary Block, and other regional
anesthesia, and general anesthetics monitoring patient reactions to
anesthesia and surgery, managing fluid therapy, and performing
post-operative evaluations. Advise Anesthesiologist or attending
physician of adverse reactions necessitating non-delegated medical
decisions; takes appropriate actions as directed or required.
Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of anesthesia equipment.HOURS:
The MTF is a 24/7 facility therefore hours of performance are as
follow Shifts may include 8, 10, or 12 hours, Sunday through
Saturday, and may include weekends and holidays. A minimum
30-minute and not to exceed one (1)-hour unpaid meal break provided
during the shift. Typical routine shifts range Monday through
Friday but may change due to mission requirements to (include
weekends and holidays). Services will not exceed 80-hours in a two
(2) week period. At no time shall an individual CRNA perform
consecutive 24-hour shifts. Hour in excess of 80-hours in a two (2)
week period is considered overtime and must be approved in advance.
Will be required to work on federally recognized holidays.Base Down
Days During a planned closure of the facility due to training,
closures before or after holidays family down days, Employee will
only be compensated for the actual hours worked. If clinic is
closed and employee is not able to work, employee will be required
to use leave or take LWOP (without penalty).SPECIAL
REQUIREMENTS/SKILLSMust be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic
environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short
notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and
able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required.
Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a
deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of
adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced,
