This position must provide superior communication skills, customer satisfaction and follow required guidelines while maintaining nursing home and Century Rehabs stellar reputation. Position Focus:Occupational Therapy Assistants conduct routine examinations to measure each patients balance, posture and muscle performance as well as review and understand their medical history. Once exam is completed, a customized rehabilitation and treatment plan is developed to increase strength and lessen pain. Treatment plans often include different exercises and stretches, as well as hands-on therapies and machines to assist with improving muscle strength, range of motion and motor function. In addition, our Therapists will provide documentation of patient prognosis, treatment goals, responses, education on treatments and techniques to benefit patient and establish channels of communication with Nursing Staff. Our Therapists will usually encourage patients to adopt a fitness plan to help strengthen their muscles with exercise equipment. Sometimes electronic stimulation will also be used to work on soft tissue muscles that are more difficult to strengthen. Therapists will also consult with other health care professionals, including Physicians, to offer patients the best, most holistic care possible. Additional responsibilities: Maintains patient occupational therapy records by recording client's progress for use by the occupational therapist. Generates revenues by recording billing information of services render. Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Serves and protects the occupational therapy practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations. Enhances occupational therapy practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
