HMI Utilities, LLC, a subsidiary of Henkels & McCoy Group, Inc., is a utility construction firm providing critical infrastructure for Power, Gas Distribution and Communications markets throughout North America. Due to our continued growth in the utilities market we are currently recruiting for an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our team.Duties:Copper Splicer daily work will involve all aspects of splicing distribution cables in underground, buried and aerial applications. The Fiber/Copper Splicer will also perform testing and create and maintain splicing records, diagrams and as-built recordsCopper Splicer Responsibilities/Duties:* Competent in splicing of Hi-Cap circuits and T1's* Install and maintain pressurized closures; both Waffle and Preform* Knowledge & proficiency in paper/pulp cable splicing and pair identification* Complete accurate paperwork for material and customer billing tracking purposes* Operate all vehicles, equipment and tools while adhering to company safety standards* Complete daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers and equipment* Works efficiently to achieve a high level of daily productivity in a fast-paced environment* Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions* Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team* Willingness and ability to learn additional skillsQualifications:* Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.* Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.* A good driving record is required.* Must have previous experience spicing copper cable.* Must have knowledge of telecommunications network structure.* Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.* Must be able to read and build from blueprints and/or wire diagrams.* Ability to operate technical equipment, including but not limited to computer, OTDR and fusion splicing equipment.* Ability to lift and manipulate splice enclosures and other plant and equipment.Preferred Qualifications:* Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber preferred.* A valid driver's license (CDL Class "A" preferred).* Previous experience splicing fiber optic and/or copper cable.Physical Requirements:* Must be able to lift/carry 50-100 lbs regularly.* Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
