Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week -
as needed, not to exceed 19.5 hours per week
Summary of Position
Adjunct faculty to teach culinary and/or hospitality courses as
prescribed by institutional policies and perform operational duties
within the respective areas of responsibilities of the TDCJ
Restaurant Operations Certificate Program.
Minimum Required Education
Associates Degree from a nationally, regionally, or identified
at the state level accredited institution of higher education in
food service management or related field required, prefer
Valid National Restaurant Association ServSafe certificate
Must hold or obtain a valid county food worker's card and,
within one year, obtain professional certification as a condition
Minimum Required Experience
Minimum 3 years of culinary experience is required.
Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in culinary or
hospitality field preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have knowledge of food production, sanitation, and
Demonstrated knowledge in subject matter being taught; ability
to communicate effectively with students in a clear manner; ability
to give academic and vocational guidance to students as needed.
Must have a proficiency to communicate in oral and written
Must be neat in appearance and exhibit positive professional
Demonstrated managerial skills.
Must be well-grounded in the use of computer technology.
Must possess, depending on course instruction, some of the
following skills and knowledge; basic food preparation, preparation
and demonstration of cold buffets, sauces, cake decorating, salt
dough sculpture, table arrangement and work with sugar & chocolate
art, nutrition, and food service operations.
Must be willing to work flexible and non-standard hours and work
under exacting conditions.
