Job TitleAssistant Director of Student & Civic EngagementAgencyTexas A&M University - Central TexasDepartmentStudent EngagementProposed Minimum Salary$3,750.00 monthlyJob LocationKilleen, TexasJob TypeStaffJob Description_The Assistant Director of Student Engagement, under general direction, is responsible for providing oversight to student organizations on campus, developing volunteer opportunities for general student body and emphasis on student clubs and organizations and creating new/enhanced student activities that promote pride and create new traditions. The Assistant Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of leadership development and civic engagement programs. This position will assist with the execution of large-scale campus involvement. The Assistant Director works closely with students to initiate, plan, develop, and facilitate events and activities to enhance the quality of student life and University experience for all students. This position is identified as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and is required to report non-personally identifying information to the Department of Public Safety related to all incidents that fall within the Jeanne Clery Act._Job Duties/Responsibilities:+ Direct and serve as the primary contact for all recognized student organizations, advise students in the development of new organizations, and ensure all groups are in alignment with federal, state, and local laws and university policies and procedures, including the Student Organization Handbook. Coordinate regular risk management training, student organization orientation, and hazing prevention efforts. + Provide leadership to campus life event planning to include, but not limited to, Welcome Week, Warrior Week, Hunger & Homelessness Awareness, Warrior Ring Ceremony and programs, experiential learning related opportunities. Coordinate planning teams, oversee risk management, ensure budgetary alignment & fiscal responsibility, programmatic evaluation, and the supervision of student employees. ? + Lead co curricular civic engagement and democratic learning initiatives, and social justice education initiatives, such as, but not limited to, BECOME: A Poverty Simulation, Oxfam Hunger Banquet, Alternative Spring Break, Constitution Day, student voter registration, service projects, and days of service, through intentional collaboration with community partners, students, and university employees. + Recruit, train, lead, and supervise student employees and graduate assistants. Serve as the primary advisor for both the Campus Cupboard, our campus food pantry, and the A&M-Central Texas National Society of Leadership & Success Chapter + Oversee the student organization recognition process and develop and execute strategic initiatives to increase student organization involvement and maintain the student engagement software platform, Engage by Campus Labs. + Develop and maintain positive rapport with campus and community stakeholders, including community organizations and agencies. Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Student Affairs in developing and maintaining social media efforts for the office and Division. + Serve as a representative on department, division, and university committees and taskforces. Serve as an investigator and hearing officer in the university student conduct process on an as-needed basis. + Manage budgetary resources for the office, student travel, and event funding. Coordinate the dispersal of student organization reimbursement with the Student Government Association. + Other duties as assigned, to include on-call responsibilities.Minimum Qualifications:+ Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Six years of related experience in management of Student Activities programs. + Must have demonstrated experience in the successful completion of multiple projects and responsibilities. + Must have excellent writing and verbal communication skills. + Must have demonstrated experience using and familiarity with computer applications: word, excel, etc.Preferred Qualifications:+ A masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in higher education or student affairs administration. + Six years of related experience in management of Student Activities, or similar, programs. + Experience working with and advising student groups and advising student organizations. + Experience developing comprehensive community engagement programs.Other Requirements:+ On-call responsibilities are included in this position + Some night and weekend requirements + Ability to lift moderately heavy objects.Hours: Mon-Fri; 8am - 5pm; some weekend and night requirements. All positions are security-sensitive.
