Position Information Position Title Career Navigator-Adult Education FLSA Non-Exempt Full Time/Part Time Part Time Department Adult Education Campus Central Campus Location Central Campus Hourly Rate 16.81 Hours Part-time, include requirement and total hours per week - 19.5 hours per week Summary of Position To provide transition advising and instruction to students entering post-secondary education and the workforce. Minimum Required Education Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited educational institution; teacher certification preferred. Masters Degree from a regionally accredited education institution preferred. Minimum Required Experience Two years administrative experience working in a college or other educational setting required. Experience working with adult students and transition to college or workforce programs desired. Minimum one (1) year teaching experience or a teacher certification required; working with adults desirable. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of all local college program offerings, continuing education, trade schools, job training opportunities and their entry requirements. Funding sources for prospective college students and how to apply, or what office to refer to the students to. Student Visa requirements and process for prospective International Students, and funding options available to them. Understanding accreditation and the difference between community and technical colleges, universities, proprietary schools, trade schools, professional certification programs, etc. Understanding of ever-changing job climate, and how to navigate websites such as BLS .gov, , etc. College recruitment, advising, mentorship Highly motivational and comfortable with public speaking and promotions. Ability to teach in an effective and competent manner. Ability to communicate in an effective and competent manner with the public and with all students. Proficiency in MS Microsoft Office and databases. Skilled at networking and maintaining contacts within the community. Knowledge of how to create a resume, perform in a job interview and use internet resources for finding jobs and networking (such as LinkedIn) Program development and implementation (including writing and design skills and the ability to conduct staff training) Ability to create reports Knowledge of college entrance requirements Knowledge of basic workforce requirements.
