To manage and maintain the inventory of uniforms and standard issue equipment used by the Police Department's personnel. To receive and transfer specialized clothing and equipment to Departmental units. To coordinate and assist with in-processing new personnel, as well as recovery of equipment and uniforms from exiting personnel. To perform a variety of administrative duties as required for the position.

Essential Duties: Orders, issues and inventories uniforms and standard issue equipment for all the divisions within the police department.

Orders, verifies receipt of, and transfers accountability of some specialized uniform items and equipment to various police department units.

Collects and disposes of un-serviceable uniforms and equipment.

Assists with preparing and maintaining accurate and current budget documents, fiscal year budgeting for Basic Peace Office Course Academies, and daily department operational equipment requirements.

Assists with research, of equipment related to law enforcement, evaluates cost and durability of the same.

Recovers all department-issued items from departing personnel, and assists in recovery of the cost of lost or missing department-issued items.

Receives, inspects, and maintains inventory of department weapons.

Assists in the maintenance of weapons systems, including, tracking service repairs, documentation, and ordering parts.

Projects and orders department purchase of ammunition based on usage and training needs.

Serves as a liaison for the department with equipment vendors.

Calls vendors, places orders, and picks up supplies.

Checks quantity and quality of goods received for conformity to purchase orders and specifications.

Assists with the preparation, set-up, and recovery of Basic Peace Officer Course Graduations, and Academy briefings.

Performs other duties, including administrative duties, as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Education and Experience:

* Thirty (30) college semester hours from an accredited college or university; and,
* Three (3) years of experience in purchasing and inventory management; or,
* Any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to maintain and manage inventory and standard equipment for personnel;
* Ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations;
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors;
* Ability to follow oral and written instructions;
* Ability to maintain confidential information;
* Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance;
* Knowledge of municipal government purchasing methods and procedures;
* Working knowledge of handguns, rifles, shotguns, and ammunition types;
* Working knowledge of modern law enforcement principle, procedures and techniques

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

* Pass a basic Armorer's Course for each weapon system maintained by the department.
* Obtain a Notary Public License.
* Must pass a thorough background investigation and complete a polygraph examination.
* Must obtain and maintain a Texas Driver's License within 60 days of hire.

Supplemental Information: TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Personal computer, including word-processing and specialized software, phone, calculator, fax machine, shredder, and copy machine. Various armorers' tools including screwdrivers, hammers, punches and sight tools.

or crawl, and taste or smell. The employee must periodically lift and/or move more than 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
