Job Description:
Summary About the Position: This position is located in the
407th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistic Readiness Center, Supply
& Services Division, Fort Hood, TX. This position is a Term
position NTE 13 months. It is temporary and may be extended up to a
maximum of six years of total service without further competition.
Responsibilities Processes items through the pre-screen for
disposition instructions. Packs, unpacks, sorts, stacks,
warehouses, bins and moves items, makes in-storage checks for
obvious need for maintenance, vermin control, and damage, reporting
findings and serious damages to supervisor for action. Incumbent
physically packs and crates weapons for shipment and inspects
sensitive items, to include firearms, to ensure items are properly
packed and crated for transport. Receives stock from assembly area
or direct movement of stock from various warehouses, determining
appropriate hold locations for assembling shipping items.
Participates in inventories by counting types and quantities of
items, maintaining tally listings during the count, using scanners,
wands, and wedges. Operates electric, gasoline, or diesel powered
forklift trucks in order to lift loads weighing under 10,000 lbs as
high as 168 inches. Requirements Conditions of Employment

normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element):
Ability to do the work of an Material Handler (Forklift Operator)
without more than normal supervision. Performing common Materials
Handler (FLO) duties to stock, rotate, and mark stock items which
are usually covered by detailed procedures or standardized
instructions. Utilize computer terminal equipment to determine
stock locations and making selections by quantity and stock
numbers. Operate a forklift to maintain and arrange storage areas
in accordance safety procedures. working under normal supervision
of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in
progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly
performed. Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in
an ineligible rating. Ability To Do The Work Of The position
Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret
Instructions, Specification, etc. Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of
Materials Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Work
Practices (includes keeping things neat, clean, and in order)
Physical Effort: Stands, stops, bends and works in tiring and
uncomfortable positions. May be required to work at a rapid pace
for prolonged periods. Frequently lifts and carries material
weighing up to 50 pounds, and at times may handle items weighting
over 50 pounds. Moderate physical effort is used in operating
forklift hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting
and stopping the forklift and raising, lowering, and tilting loads
being moved. Working Conditions: The employee typically works
indoors and outdoors in an environment involving everyday risks or
discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such
places as offices, warehouses, or meeting rooms observance of
normal safety practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips
and falls, and observance of fire regulations as required. All are
expected to comply with all health and safety regulations, standard
operating procedures (SOP) and OSHA standards. Employees take all
reasonable care to ensure their actions do not impact on the health
and safety of themselves, other employees or visitors to the
organization, and will stop and report such infractions.
Individuals shall comply with provisions of AR 385-10, Army Safety
Program and the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). Personnel shall
wear all safety items required by OSHA and local SOP during the
performance of tasks requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
Maybe exposed to dirt, dust, oil, grease fume, smoke and irritating
fluids and required to wear protective equipment for clean up.
Education This position does not have an education qualification
requirement. Additional Information Male applicants born after
December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification
Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required
to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Two year trial/probationary
period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is
a Career Program (CP) 13 - Supply Management position. You may
claim military spouse preference (MSP). Selection is subject to
restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system
